***BROWN MARMORATED STINK BUG (BMSB)*** - FINAL MEASURES FOR 2021-22 SEASON APPROACHING
Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) seasonal measures have been finalised with the season again fast approaching.
Who does this notice affect?
Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including vessel masters, freight forwarders, treatment providers, Biosecurity Industry Participants, importers, customs brokers, principal agents and master consolidators—associated with importing goods that require increased intervention during the 2021-22 BMSB risk season
What has changed?
The department has published the seasonal measures for the 2021-22 BMSB risk season.
The list of target risk countries will now include Poland in addition to target risk countries identified for the 2020-21 BMSB risk season. (Please see attached a List of the Target Risk Countries)
Emerging risk countries for the 2021-22 BMSB risk season include Belarus, Malta, Sweden, United Kingdom, and Chile.
For the 2021-22 BMSB risk season, measures will apply to:
- certain goods manufactured in, or shipped from target risk countries, and/or
- vessels that berth at, load, or tranship from target risk countries
The measures apply to goods that have been shipped between 1 September 2021 and 30 April 2022 (inclusive).
Target high risk goods shipped between 1 September 2021 and 30 April 2022 (inclusive) require mandatory treatment. (Please see attached a list of the Target High Risk & Target Risk goods)
